This weekend my parents and my sister came visiting me. Together, we had a touristic weekend here in Dublin. I noticed that many things have become “common” to me already when I guided them through the city.
Our weekend started with a short trip to Dalkey. Dalkey is a city southeast of Dublin and on the east coast of Ireland. My colleague told me about this city and I had to visit it! Many celebrities like Chris de Burgh, Bono, Enya and many more live here. That’s why it is also called the Beverly Hills of Dublin. With the dart it took us only half an hour.

Unfortunately, it was rainy and cold, so we did not spend a long time on the coast. We walked past interesting buildings and had a good view of Dalkey Island. Regrettably, we could not bring ourselves to Killiney Hill Park because it was too cold. We warmed up a bit in a sweet café near the city centre in Dalkey.
Our tour continued by walking towards the Temple Bar. On our way, my sister found one of the many Carroll’s Irish Gifts shops. We stayed there for about an hour and found a lot of souvenirs for everyone.
We arrived on Sunday at around 3pm at the Temple Bar and my parents were a little bit shocked. Many drunk people passed our way. On Sundays in Germany you are used to closed shops and a cosy day, but here in Dublin, Sunday is also a bar day. I often heard that you can also go to the Dicey’s Garden in the evening.
To our advantage, it was not too busy at this time, so we could even get a seat in the famous Temple Bar Pub and drink a pint of Guinness.
After enjoying our pint, we walked to Henry Street, a shopping street here. It was really overcrowded and we did not stay a long time there.
As I have to work now, I sent my family on tour alone. But I think that they will find everything on their own! 😊
